Mr. Tom Fletcher as OCHA’s new Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator
Mr. Tom Fletcher has started his new role as the new Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). He succeeds Martin Griffiths of the United Kingdom to whom the Secretary-General is deeply grateful for his outstanding work, dedicated service and long-standing commitment to the Organization. In this critical role, Mr. Fletcher will lead global efforts to coordinate humanitarian responses, address crises, and ensure the effective delivery of aid to those most in need.
With a distinguished career in diplomacy, policy advocacy, and international relations, he brings a wealth of experience to the position, reinforcing OCHA’s mission to alleviate human suffering, uphold dignity, and promote resilience in the face of global challenges. His leadership is expected to strengthen partnerships, enhance coordination, and drive innovative solutions in addressing the world’s most pressing humanitarian emergencies.
